I believe that my job as an instructor is to inspire curiosity and to provide students with the right tools to express themselves in academic writing, reading, listening, and speaking.  Students must be active learners—grappling with ideas, asking questions, discovering the unique perspective they possess, and participating in the classroom community. This level of engagement, both with the course texts and with peers, will help the students to develop as college learners.
